BASIC INFORMATION

Name: Ares

Canon: Vagrant Soldier Ares

Age: About 19

Bio: The shorter version (big ol' canon spoilers):

Ares is from a world that's always at war or preparing to be-- at his canon point, he's in the middle of fighting his fourth war-- and is used to conflicts being resolved with... more conflict. His own history just reinforces that, thanks to being raised as a swordsman; he started learning to use a sword at 5 or 6, killed a guy at 8, it's just downhill from there. He lived a sword hobo life from 12-18 after his master was murdered, and he's been on a revenge quest since. You know, standard shonen backstory.

The rest of his history is largely fighting with the mercenary group he joined and his friends there, up until his best friend turned out to actually be royalty from an enemy country and betrayed the hell out of him. Most of the mercenaries were wiped out, his friend personally tortured him, and he spent some time in an unresponsive state of shock before recovering. Poking into memories is not really advised; it's not a good place.

For the most part, he presents himself to others as a little clueless and fairly upbeat, but it's more facade than anything. Ares runs on anger and will be extremely aggressive when necessary (or when provoked into it); he also enjoys fighting and will take just about any excuse for it, whether that's just sparring someone or a more serious thing. He's not going to go around trying to fight literally everybody, he'll still be chill with people, but he's definitely easily baited into it.

The full tl;dr is in his app over here! I don't expect anyone to read this whole dissertation though tbh.

SYMBIOTE INFORMATION

[IOTA] - [TELEPORTATION]

Allows the user to teleport to another location, which must be within clear line of sight-- no blipping past walls or into unfamiliar locations, or to that vague spot wayyyy off in the distance. Works only for the user, does not transport anyone else.

Pros: great for maneuverability, cuts way down on walking time.
Cons: better get used to abruptly blipping into place before you get in a fight, it's pretty disorienting. also easy to misjudge the distance if you're not careful; accuracy has to be developed.

BROOD PERMISSIONS
It'll be fairly easy for his brood to tell that the face he keeps up is exactly that. He's quick to anger, though he may not show it physically, and there's a lot of mental turbulence happening here. Biographical information that might be picked up will mostly be the events surrounding his friend Mikael's betrayal (both the event itself and its resulting trauma), though they can also pick up older information from the years he spent training under his master, as well as his fixation on revenge. When talking or thinking about his career, they'll also be likely to find that his path has been something he's resigned himself to; it's not that he doesn't like doing what he does (he enjoys fighting), but he also feels like it was his only option.

If they pay attention to hints they get from old memories or his feelings, they can probably piece together some of the reasons he tries to keep his connections to people shallow: he was discouraged from making friends (and told that he didn't need them), trained not to show weakness, and he never gives the impression he saw the man who raised him as anything but the master to his apprentice. There hasn't been a parent figure in his life, and he has very few memories of affection or care shown by his master.

He does want to connect with people, though, and when he manages to make friends he places a lot of value in those relationships. (Even after Mikael turned against him, he didn't immediately want to get revenge on his friend and initially thought he couldn't do it.) It's not something he'll be vocal about, at least not on more than a shallow level, but mentally? If he really thinks of a broodmate as a friend, they'll know.

(for more detailed information or if you want to pull something else from his history, feel free to ping me and I'll provide it! I'll try to put enough info in tags to make things like his mental state pretty clear, go ahead and use it.)

NEST PERMISSIONS
Initially, others in the Nest will be able to pick up on some of those anger issues when they come up, and can get vaguer info on his background-- largely that he's a mercenary, he's been fighting for a long-ass time, and has seen a lot of war. Revenge is the clearest motivator in thoughts and emotions related to home.

The general picture someone could probably put together after a bit: he's a product of the place he comes from, definitely not accustomed to peace, capable of a lot of violence, and he accepts all of this.

Once he improves his control, he'll keep things covered up better (especially his emotional state); he'll be trying to do so at first, but he's too inexperienced and emotionally volatile to be any good at it. His efforts to quiet his mind are likely noticeable.

MENTAL LINK
There's instability in it, but that's not because of the connection itself-- it's more a result of the struggle to keep everything from coming to the surface and his own volatility. It's accompanied by the smell of blood and smoke, the reassuring weight of a sword in hand, and the faint sound of wind.

If you're too close (or close enough, depending on how you look at it), you might also get the sense that your field of vision is a little off for a moment, like your right eye just isn't working.

PERMISSIONS
Physical Affection: Go for it, but he might not tolerate it depending on the situation.
Physical Violence: He's a fighty little shit, he has it coming.
Romance/Relationships: Attempts are fine! He does have a girlfriend he's pretty smitten with, though.
Thread-jacking: Sure, just notify me so I know and we can work things out as needed.
Back-tagging: It's fine, but I'm not generally good at doing it for months or anything, so I probably won't back-tag into infinity.
Fourth-walling: I'd prefer not, but it's not likely to come up anyway.
Offensive Subjects/Triggers: If you're linking me to an accompanying image that's something gory, please warn me, I can't even really watch horror movies. It's pretty much just a visual thing though, so unless you're describing gory stuff in loving detail text is just fine for most things.
Anything Else? If you have any issues with topics from Ares' history, please tell me and I'll be happy to try to exclude them, warn specifically for them, or tone them down in tags for you. The way he was raised/trained as a kid would be considered abusive just about anywhere else, and the trauma from what Mikael did to him may also come up IC-- those are the major things I figure could be issues, but if anything else is, just let me know.
